STJ votes on lists for the first composition of the TRF-6; names will be sent to Bolsonaro

In a secret vote, the Plenary of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) chose, this Tuesday (9), 17 names that will integrate the Federal Regional Court of the 6th Region (TRF-6), based in Belo Horizonte (MG). Now, the lists will be sent to the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro.

The selection criteria were by seniority (seven names), merit and promotion (eight), representatives of the OAB (six) and the Public Ministry (six). In the case of merit, Jair Bolsonaro should nominate six.

One of the vacancies is already reserved for federal judge Mônica Sifuentes, who opted for removal to the new court in January.

The creation of the TRF-6, which will be composed of 18 judges and will be based in Belo Horizonte, was approved by the Senate in September – the project had already received the approval of the Chamber – and sanctioned in October last year.

The law made it possible for the current judges of the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region (TRF1) to opt for removal to the new court – only one magistrate decided to change.

The new court will be a division of the TRF of the 1st Region, which currently operates in 13 states, including Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Bahia, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Pará, Piauí, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins, in addition to the Federal District.
