Survey Findings

Reuters polls conducted between August 9 and 23 of more than 150 stock market analysts showed most of the 17 indexes posting single-digit gains for the rest of the year.

more than 60% of strategists58 of 95, said the risks to their forecasts for the end of 2022 were biased downwards. The remaining 37 said they were on the upside.

Just over half, 57 of 108, said they had little chance of another sell-off in the last quarter.

Only stocks from emerging markets, such as India, Brazil and Mexico, posted significant gains in 2022. The UK FTSE is expected to rise around 1% over the course of this year.
