'Stop grabbing her breasts', Dublin asks tourists who vandalize Molly Malone statue

Dublin City Council is preparing to take drastic action to protect a popular city center statue from damage after reports of wear and tear from being touched too much. The bronze statue of local folk heroine Molly Malone is a popular tourist attraction in the Irish capital. Visitors pose for photos by touching the girl's exposed breasts, a habit said to bring good luck. As a result, part of the statue has worn away over time. Tilly Cripwell, a student and street musician who performs near the statue, has launched a campaign calling for an end to this “misogynist tradition”. Cripwell told the Telegraph: “A lot of people are shouting around her, kissing her on the cheek, kissing her breast, it's all inappropriate. They are relegating her to this mockery and not giving her the status of a national treasure.”
