In Arraial do Cabo, a man died on Friday morning (22) after being struck by lightning. According to reports from a witness heard by the CNN , the boy was working in Prainhas do Atalaia when it started to rain. The man was collecting chairs and work materials when he was struck by lightning. He died instantly.
In Petrópolis, firefighters are still searching for two victims of the collapse of a residence in the Independência neighborhood. To date, four people have been rescued alive at the scene and three deaths have been confirmed.
The governor of Rio, Cláudio Castro (PL), is in Petrópolis. He called President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and requested assistance from the Brazilian Army. The military has already arrived in the city.
In Teresópolis, firefighters are searching for a victim who was buried under the rubble of a collapsed house, in the Community of Korea. Two people were rescued alive and one death was confirmed.
In Santa Cruz da Serra, Duque de Caxias, a man drowned after the truck he was driving fell into a river.
