Storm in SP: in Santos, wind gusts reach 134 km/h, according to Civil Defense

On Thursday night (21), part of the state of São Paulo was hit by heavy rain and wind. In Santos, on the coast, winds reached 134.5 km/h, at 7:40 pm, as announced by the state Civil Defense.

According to the municipal Civil Defense, 17 tree falls were recorded in the municipality. In Praça Miguel Couto, a tree hit a vehicle that was parked there. The most affected neighborhoods were Vila Mathias, Marapé and Embaré.

In Peruíbe, 25 trees fell in the city, part of them on the Coronel Rodolpho Pettená Highway. In Bertioga, trees fell on the Rio Santos and Mogi Bertioga Highway. In Ilhabela, in addition to records of falling trees, Civil Defense also recorded flooding points.

In São Sebastião, according to the municipal Civil Defense, some trees hit homes and, to date, there have been no reports of injured, displaced or homeless people.

In Lins, two residences suffered roof damage, one partially and the other completely, resulting in two people being displaced and sent to their family's home. On Estrada Lins, KM 05, an embankment collapsed, partially blocking the road.

Afonso Pena Street, in Lins, was completely flooded, affecting some houses, but the water drained quickly. A car with two occupants fell into the Barbosinha stream, the victims were rescued by the Fire Department and taken to the Santa Casa Emergency Room.

In Monguaguá, eight trees were found to fall on public roads and three power poles to fall, which caused an interruption in the power supply in the neighborhoods of Florida, Agenor, Itaguaí, Jussara and Vera Cruz. There was also a record of the roofing of a residence, which was completely closed and the seven residents were accommodated in the house of relatives.

The city of Cubatão also recorded tree falls and an interruption in the electricity supply in the neighborhoods of Vila Paulista, Centro and Vila Natal, which was already restored on Friday morning (22). In Guarujá, 17 trees fell on public roads and onto electrical wiring, which caused interruptions in the power supply in some neighborhoods.

The highest rainfall accumulated was recorded in the city of Jambeiro, with 89 millimeters. Mogi Guaçu, Praia Grande, Ilhabela, Casa Branca, São Sebastião, Itapira and Mongaguá also recorded accumulations above 60 millimeters.

Friday (22):

This Friday (22), at around 11:35 am, the São Paulo Civil Defense recorded rain spreading across the Franca region and reaching nearby areas, with winds and lightning. At 11:41 am, precipitation was recorded in the São João da Boa Vista region. At 12:01 pm, the agency reported persistent rain in the region of São Sebastião, Caraguatatuba and Ubatuba.
