After the passage of an extratropical cyclone that killed 47 people in southern Brazil during the holiday and weekend, the region is expected to face heavy rains again this Tuesday (12).
The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a warning valid from 10 am on Tuesday morning, with the possibility of rain ranging between 50 and 100 mm per day, with winds above 60km/h and the possibility of hail and risk of flooding.
The alert is valid for almost all of Rio Grande do Sul, the west of Santa Catarina and the southwest of Paraná. In RS, temperatures are between 16°C and 23°C; in SC between 19°C and 29°C; and in PR between 15°C and 28°C
In an interview with CNN Radio Climatempo meteorologist Maria Clara Sassaki said that the week will be a warning week for the entire southern region of Brazil.
“The entire week will be rainy in the South, with the possibility of flooding in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina”, warned Sassaki.
According to her, the formation of a new cold front, which will take time to pass, will cause rain.
“For tomorrow and Wednesday, greater accumulated volumes of rain are expected,” he added.
Southeast region
The Southeast will have “firm weather at the beginning of the week and high temperatures, with relative humidity below that recommended in Minas Gerais and São Paulo.”
The cold front from the South moves into the region on Thursday and changes the weather in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, with rain and lower temperatures.
Midwest region
In Mato Grosso do Sul, there is a possibility of storms from Wednesday onwards.
“Goiás and Mato Grosso will have firm weather, with high temperatures starting the week, like Cuiabá, in the range of 41 degrees,” said Sassaki.
North and Northeast Regions
The interior of the Northeast, southern Pará and Tocantins will have high temperatures, up to 40 degrees, with temporary rain on the Northeast coast and a chance of showers in Acre, Rondônia and Amazonas.
