The Duffer brothers — Matt and Ross —, creators of “Stranger Things”, said in an interview with The Guardian that the final season of the series, which still has no release date on Netflix, will be “like the first season on steroids”.
“It’s bigger than ever in terms of scale, but it’s been a lot of fun because everyone is back together in Hawkins: the boys and Eleven interacting in a way that’s more similar to how it was in the first season,” Matt said.
“And yes, there may be spin-offs, but the story of Eleven, Dustin, Lucas and Hopper ends here. That’s it…” he added.
The brothers also said that they predict they will go through the five stages of grief when the series ends, mainly because they will no longer spend time with the characters they created.
The two have also been watching other long-running shows to try to learn some tips on “how to land the plane safely,” said Ross, referring to the series finale.
“The endings of TV shows are similar to opening a restaurant in terms of the success and failure rate – there’s an 80% failure rate, I would say,” said Matt.
He continued: “But I think a very particular way to fail is to try to please everyone. We have a wide variety of fans across all age groups, and I’m sure they have their own opinions on how they want the series to end. But we are not consulting social media about this. So you just hope and pray that it resonates.”
