Strategy Analytics prepared a report on the smart speaker and display market in the fourth quarter. According to analysts, the release of new models from Amazon, Apple, Google, Alibaba and Baidu, synchronized with the seasonal rise in demand, provided a “positive end to a difficult year.” Over the year, according to Strategy Analytics’ calculations, more than 150 million of these devices were sold, of which 58.2 million were sold in the fourth quarter. By the way, the share of smart displays, which can also be viewed as smart speakers equipped with displays, increased over the year from 22% to 26%.
The market leader for the quarter is Amazon. Over the year, its share has not changed and is 28.3%. The second place is taken by Google, whose share decreased from 24.9% to 22.6% over the year. Baidu ranks third. The share of the Chinese company increased over the year from 10.6% to 11.3%. Next comes another Chinese Internet giant – Alibaba. Its share increased over the year from 9.8% to 10.8%. The top five is closed by Apple, which managed to increase its market presence from 4.7% to 7.8% in a year.
