Sony has announced the launch of the Apple Music streaming service for the PlayStation 5.
Starting today, the Apple Music app is available for download from the PlayStation Store in 69 markets, including Russia. A subscription is required to use Apple Music.
This is Apple’s second PlayStation app. The first was Apple TV for PS4 and PS5 last year. Note that a rival service, Spotify, has been part of the PlayStation ecosystem since it arrived on PS4 in 2015. Six years later, it’s good to see that players have another option for streaming music. This will be a welcome bonus for Apple Music subscribers who have managed to get their hands on the PS5 despite the scarcity.
The Apple Music app on PlayStation 5 has all of its features: users can stream millions of songs (in a catalog of 90 million songs), discover new music, create and download playlists, watch 4K music videos, and more.
PS5 provides tight integration with Apple Music with the ability to listen to music in the background and watch clips. As the developers explain, players can listen to music before, during or after the game.
