According to diplomatic sources, in a letter sent to the Foreign Minister of the neighboring country, Bujar Osmani, Mr. Dendias Stresses the need for full, consistent and good faith implementation of the Prespa Agreement, stating that although in this Agreement, as provided for in Article 1 (e), the code name of Northern Macedonia in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) remains “MKD”, the use of this acronym in EURO 2020 can not be accepted by Greece.
In the context of international practice, the full implementation of the agreement, as well as the effort to maintain a positive dynamic in bilateral relations, Northern Macedonia should use as an acronym letters that correspond to its name, such as “NM” (North Macedonia) or alternatively «RNM» (Republic of North Macedonia).
At the same time, according to the same sources, he emphasizes that The name of the football federation of Northern Macedonia is pending, which must be amended in order to meet the provisions of the Prespa Agreement.
Finally, he called on Mr Osmani to intervene in order to resolve these issues in the context of good neighborly relations.
