Stricter measures, in view of Ramadan, Erdogan announced

Tightening of pandemic measures in Turkey announced on Monday night by the president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, citing the growing number of infections and deaths from Covid-19 in the country.

After a three-hour cabinet meeting at the presidential palace, the Turkish president said the number of provinces considered “Very high risk” for the spread of the new coronavirus reached 58 (81 in total) and 80% of the population lives in them.

On weekdays the traffic ban will continue to apply from 9 pm to 5 am. All restaurants and cafes will operate at 50% of their capacity.

During Ramadan, which this year begins on April 13, gatherings for traditional sahur (before dawn) and iftar (after sunset) meals will be banned throughout the country. Traffic will also be banned on weekends across the country.
