Strong concern in Iran over fifth wave of Delta mutation pandemic

A message warning that the risk of a fifth wave of the coronavirus pandemic is over Iran, sent by Hassan Rohani.

In fact, he called on the people to be very careful and to follow all the health instructions of the experts.

“We are afraid that we are on our way to the fifth wave across the country,” Rohani said during a meeting of the National Anti-Virus Committee, adding that in the southern provinces, citizens should be more “careful because the Delta variant has spread. ”

Iran is the country most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in the Near and Middle East. The Islamic Republic counts more than 84,000 dead out of a total of 3.2 million people infected with the new coronavirus, according to official figures, which is well below the actual level as authorities admit.

According to the Ministry of Health, the provinces of Sistan-Baluchestan, Kerman, Hormozgan and Fars, located in the south and southeast of the country, are classified as “red”, meaning that they have the highest level of epidemiological risk, according to the color code adopted by the authorities. assessing the risk of spreading the virus.

In the province of Tehran, ten cities, including the capital, are now described as “red”.

The Ministry of Health announced that more than 4.4 million people (out of a total population of 83 million) had received a first dose of the vaccine since the start of the vaccination campaign in February, but only 1.7 million Iranians have received the two necessary doses.

“God willing, the situation will improve in terms of vaccination from next week. “Vaccination will be more extensive,” Rohani promised.

Authorities recently announced that they had approved two “Iranian-made” vaccines for “emergency” use, the widespread availability of which has not yet been approved.
