Strong earthquake in the Philippines

Seismic A 6.2-magnitude earthquake occurred a while ago in the island of Mindanao Philippinesas announced by the country’s Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

The epicenter is located at the eastern end of the island and the focal depth is estimated at 5 kilometers.

So far there are no reports of casualties or significant material damage.

The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) and the US Geological Survey (USGS) estimated that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.9.

The Philippines is located on the so-called “Ring of Fire” of the Pacific Ocean, where tectonic plate movements often cause earthquakes and intense volcanic activity.
