A strong earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale shook it Taiwan, according to the latest update from the US Geological Survey (USGS). The authorities of the country proceeded to issue a tsunami warning, as the initial measurements indicated an earthquake of more than 7 Richter.
The epicenter of the tremor is located in the southeastern part of Taiwanwhich is sparsely populated, while at noon on Saturday (16:30 Greek time) a 6.6 Richter earthquake had occurred with an epicenter about 50 kilometers north of Taitung city, while its focal depth was 10 kilometers.
So far, there are no reports of casualties or damage.
