A Chemical Engineering student died last Saturday night (14), after falling ill during a party, in Lages, a city located about 236 kilometers from the capital Florianópolis (SC).
According to the state Military Police, during the party, which took place in the Tributo neighborhood, the young woman suffered a convulsive crisis followed by a cardiorespiratory arrest after allegedly consuming narcotics.
Even with attempts to revive her, the young woman, identified as Júlia Prates Araújo, did not resist. The victim’s cell phone and a package with drug remains were seized to assist in the investigation.
On social media, the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC) lamented the young woman’s death. Júlia was studying the sixth period of the Engineering course on one of the institution’s campuses. “Júlia was a dedicated young woman, beloved by colleagues, teachers and the entire academic community. His departure leaves an immeasurable void between us”, stated the IFSC.
The Santa Catarina Civil Police informed, through the Lages (SC) Police Duty Center, that it is still awaiting expert reports to further investigate the young woman’s death.
