Students will be able to use grades from the latest editions of Enem for Prouni

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) signed a decree last Friday (18), allowing students who took the 2020 and 2021 editions of the National High School Exam (Enem) to use the grade to participate in the selection process of the University for All Program (Prouni). The decree takes effect from this year.

In a video published on social media, this Saturday (19), the minister of education, Milton Ribeiro, announced the news and reaffirmed the role of the portfolio in proposing measures for those who need it most. “MEC is sensitive to the demands of students, especially those who need it most,” he said.

Ribeiro also informed that registration for the program begins next Tuesday (22). He explains how the process will “consider the edition in which the candidate achieved the highest grade.”

Prior to this decree, candidates could only use their Enem scores from the previous year to apply for a vacancy via Prouni. It is worth remembering that the program offers scholarships from 50% to 100% for private universities.

Enem 2022 will be held on November 13th and 20th. The exam began in 1998 and is currently the main means of accessing degrees in the country. The grade obtained can also be used in other programs such as the Student Financing Fund (FIES), Unified Unification System (Sisu) and finally, several faculties and university centers also accept the grade as admission to a higher course.
