Subaru brought the stylish sixth-generation Outback to the Russian and European market only last year, but it’s worth recalling that this car was introduced in the US three years ago. Accordingly, the time has come for the release of a restyled model, which was officially presented at the New York Auto Show last night, April 13th. And it will really be problematic to confuse the original car with the updated version – the manufacturer uses rather massive black plastic lining on the wheel arches, and similar fang-shaped inserts appeared on the front bumper.
Also on the front side of the updated car, you can see new headlights and foglights and an enlarged radiator grill – unfortunately, there are no other cardinal differences between the old and new sixth generation. But the difference is present in the cabin, although it is, of course, even more difficult to notice – the fact is that the manufacturer decided not to change anything at all, except for the multimedia system, which now supports connecting to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interfaces wirelessly. And in the cabin as an option, an advanced mirror with a built-in display that will display a picture from the rear view camera may appear.
Additionally, it is worth paying attention to the improved EyeSight system, which has acquired an increased viewing angle on a stereo camera installed under the windshield of the car. The manufacturer also announced a software upgrade, and in the top version of the Touring, the technology is represented by the next generation with three lenses instead of two. This monocamera is much faster, according to company representatives, to recognize cyclists and pedestrians. Together with Automatic Emergency Steering technology, which allows you to avoid obstacles at speeds up to 80 km / h, the updated Outback should become safer.
The power units of the car, which is highly expected, remained untouched – Subaru Outback can be bought either with a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter engine with 185 horsepower, or with a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with 264 horsepower. Naturally, both options come with a CVT and all-wheel drive, but the manufacturer did not name the price of the restyled model, as well as the delivery time of the vehicle to the markets of Europe, Russia and the USA.
