Italian startup iSpace2o yesterday, April 27, officially announced the start of production of the first hull for a submarine called the Deepseaker DS1. The main feature of this vehicle is its versatility – the boat is able to be on the water, reaching a speed of 23 knots (43 km / h), but if necessary, the owner can dive under water to a depth of 50 meters to study underwater fauna and flora. At the same time, the manufacturer considers his invention unique in its kind, since there are no more high-speed boats in the world that can dive under water, especially to such an impressive depth.
But the uniqueness of the vehicle is not limited to this, since the boat is fully electric and has a special shape of the hull and “wings” in the rear. The fact is that most electric boats have a very small range due to the resistance of the water surface, but the Deepseaker DS1 design solves this problem. While driving, the rear “wings” and the bullet-like body lift the vehicle off the water at the front, greatly reducing drag and increasing range. However, the manufacturer did not provide exact data.
Also, iSpace2o engineers promise to implement a technology for separating oxygen from ocean water so that the user, being under water, does not need additional oxygen cylinders on board. And, most interestingly, experts promise to implement Tesla-style artificial intelligence technology – the boat will be able to independently get from point to point, and the owner will only need to specify the coordinates. This, however, is not news for water transport, since there are already many ships in the world (even cargo ships) that move without the participation of a captain along a given trajectory. But for small vehicles, this is, of course, big news.
