The Secretariat of Urban Development and Housing began the demolition of unoccupied houses in the Moinho favela this Monday (12). The action is jointly held by the Housing and Urban Development Company (CDHU), the Sé and Civil Defense Subprefecture.
The works began with six houses that were at risk for the precarious structure, already sealed by the São Paulo City Hall. To date 168 families have made the changes.
Family changes began on April 22. In all, 752 of them have joined the resettlement, and 599 are able to sign contracts and receive the keys as soon as the units are ready.
According to CDHU, 548 people have already chosen their destination property or signaled the option to seek a home in the market. The work will continue for the coming days to make changes to the families that requested transportation to the new addresses.
