Subsidiary brand Geely introduced the first electric car: a stylish pickup truck for traveling at sea

Users who closely follow the automotive market have seen a lot of news about the Chinese automotive industry lately – local brands have stepped up, leaving many famous brands behind. And yesterday, July 12, fans of electric vehicles had another reason to rejoice – the Chinese company Radar Auto, which is a subsidiary of Geely, introduced its first electric car to the world. And it’s not just another boring sedan – the company began its journey in this direction right away with an electric pickup truck with a stylish body that fans of an active lifestyle will definitely like.

It should be noted right away that if the user has never heard of the Radar Auto brand, then this is not surprising – the electric pickup truck is the first product of this division. At one time, this automobile brand was created by the Chinese automobile giant Geely, which by that time had already acquired an arsenal of Lotus, Volvo and Polestar. As a result, the RD6 pickup truck, which is quite compact in comparison with American competitors, has four doors, impressive ground clearance and the Geely SEA modular electric platform, which can be used for both compact cars and full-fledged trucks.

Unfortunately, Geely representatives did not provide a complete list of the characteristics of this vehicle – insiders only report that, depending on the configuration, the RD6 will receive motors with a capacity of 200 to 400 horsepower, and the cruising range on a single charge will be 600 kilometers. However, this distance is calculated according to the Chinese CLTC system, which differs from the American one and is considered more “generous”. One can only hope that the power reserve at least approximately converges with the leaked information – then this pickup truck will really be able to go to nature.

But it is already known that the dimensions of the Radar Auto RD6 are similar to the Ford Ranger, the car has a front trunk, like the Ford F-150 Lightning, and there are external sockets on the cargo platform. Also, according to official photos, a potential buyer will have a lot of possible mounts for installing surfboards, bicycles, camping and more. It remains to find out the cost of such an interesting novelty and configuration options, but even now the vehicle looks very competitive – there are not many electric pickups on the market.
