The support package that will be given in 2022 to households and businesses was the subject of a wide-ranging meeting that took place today, New Year’s Eve at the Maximos Palace. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Environment and Energy K. Skrekas, the Ministers of State G. Gerapetritis and A. Skertsos and the Deputy Minister of Finance Th. Skylakakis.
According to information, the measures that will be announced next week will include:
Aid to households with criteria such as housing use (if main) while it is not yet clear whether income criteria will eventually be introduced
Aid to all companies, both high and medium and low voltage. Aid to businesses will be given as a percentage of consumption in stages
-The amount of subsidies will be reviewed every month depending on the amount of the wholesale price of electricity
The measures have already been notified to the European Competition Commission for approval.
It is noted that in the last two days there has been a slight de-escalation of gas prices and the wholesale price of electricity at a pan-European level. However, the medium-term forecasts indicate that the fluctuations will continue in the first half of the new year.
It is worth mentioning that for the New Year, in almost all of Europe with the exception of Greece, Spain and Portugal, electricity prices will fall below 100 euros / MWh. In our country the price will increase by 22.8% to 143.94 euros / MWh.
