His prime minister Sudan, The Abdallah Hamdock, was placed under house arrest by an army force that is not clear on whose orders he obeys, following the siege of his residence early this morning, the Al-Hadath television network broadcasts, citing unnamed sources.

Troops also stormed the home of the prime minister’s communications adviser and detained him, members of his family told Reuters.

The military has blocked all entrances to the capital and several bridges. Yesterday Sunday, as broadcast by AMPE, the Sudanese police made use of tear gas

to disperse hundreds of protesters trying to block the capital’s main boulevard.

Army supporters demonstrated last week, the second in a row, to demand the resignation of the government. According to the transitional authorities, the mobilizations and the episodes involve supporters of the party of Omar El Bashir, who took power in a coup and was president of Sudan until he was overthrown by the army in 2019.

The Sudanese Professional Union – which spearheaded the mass mobilizations that led to the overthrow of Bashir – called on citizens to take to the streets and “resist” any new coup.
