Sudan: PM calls on people to take to the streets – US and EU concern

His prime minister Sudan, Abdallah Hamdock, called today, Monday (25/10) the Sudanese to take to the streets for to defend the revolution peacefully, with an announcement which according to the Ministry of Information was made public from the place where he was being held by the military.

According to the same source, the head of government was transferred to an unknown location, after refusing to support the military coup.

Meanwhile, the US Special Representative Jeffrey Feltman expressed deep concern over the ongoing coup in Sudan, according to the APE-MPE. Through the official account of the State Department’s African Affairs Directorate, Mr. Feltman warned that the seizure of power by the military is contrary to the Constitutional Declaration of the transitional government and will jeopardize the continuation of Washington’s assistance to the country.

The High Representative of the European Union, Joseph Borel, today expressed his strong concern about the developments in Sudan, where a military coup is unfolding. “I am watching with great concern the events unfolding in Sudan. “The EU calls on all parties and partners in the region to put the political transition process back on track,” Borrell said on Twitter.

Army raid on the headquarters of public radio and television

At the same time, an army force raided and arrested several employees at the headquarters of the public radio and television in Omdurman, the twin city of the capital Khartoum, the Ministry of Information informed.
