The European Union’s ambassador to Sudan was attacked inside his residence today, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said in a tweet.
“This is a flagrant violation of the Vienna Convention. The security of diplomatic facilities and personnel is the responsibility of the Sudanese authorities and their obligation, based on international law,” he said.
A few hours ago, the EU Ambassador in #Sudan was assaulted in his own residence.

Borrell did not provide further details on the incident.
From Washington, White House Security Council spokesman John Kirby said tonight that there is currently no plan to remove American citizens from Sudan. However, he urged the Americans to monitor the fluid situation in that country with the utmost seriousness.
