Sudan: Two dead and 10 injured in a paramilitary attack

Two people were killed and ten others wounded by artillery shells during the attack launched today by paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the city of Omdurman, north of the Sudanese capital, according to the health authorities of Khartoum. The “systematic bombardment of civilians” by the DTY paramilitaries in the northern outskirts of Omdurman is aimed at densely populated areas, it is underlined in a related announcement. Sudan has been plunged into chaos since the war that broke out in April 2023 between forces loyal to army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the DTY paramilitaries under Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, once the second in command of the military junta. The armed conflict has caused tens of thousands of deaths and a major humanitarian crisis, with the number of displaced people exceeding 10 million, according to UN figures. Source: RES
