Suez Canal: “Even Given” launched its engines

His engines were put forward by the giant container ship Ever Given, which ran aground and closed the Suez Canal for almost a week, and sails again.

It is ensured that it will be able to continue its journey smoothly, said the company Inchcape Shipping Services, a development that raises hopes that the busy sea route will return to normal operation immediately.

The boat is 400 meters long and has a displacement of 220,000 tons managed to return to cruising at 04:30 (local time and Greek time) and is “guaranteed”, said Inchcape, which provides various shipping services internationally, as explained by AMPE.

Videos uploaded to social media show the stern of the boat twisting, opening the channel. In other videos, which could not be verified immediately, the cheers of crews and the horns of other ships are heard cheering.

The specialized Vessel Finder website changed the situation of Ever Given to “at sea”.

The truck ran aground in the southern part of the Canal due to a gust of wind in the middle of a sandstorm on Tuesday. He thus inadvertently blocked the shortest sea route connecting Europe with Asia.

At least 369 other ships are waiting to cross the Canal, among them dozens with containers, bulk cargo, crude oil and liquefied natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas.

About 190% of the world’s sea freight passes through the 190-kilometer Suez Canal, and every day when the canal is unavailable leads to long delays and costs.
