Sullivan-Doku Telephone for Stability in the Eastern Mediterranean

For the defense cooperation of Greece with USA White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and his Greek counterpart Thanos Dokos spoke during their telephone conversation.

The Washington side welcomed the strong relationship between the two countries and expressed the Biden government’s commitment to further deepen these ties.

In addition, according to the APE-MPE, the two sides discussed the importance of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean region, with the American consultant to Welcomes the resumption of dialogue between Greece and Turkey.

On the Cyprus issue, Mr. Sullivan pledged continued US support for efforts to facilitate the reunification of Cyprus on the basis of a bi-zonal and bi-communal federation.

In addition, the importance of combating harmful influence in the region was discussed. At this point, Mr. Sullivan welcomed Greece’s recent moves to secure its critical telecommunications and energy infrastructure. Finally, the two sides agreed to remain in touch on issues of common interest, stressing the importance of regional co-operation.
