President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) landed this Thursday (9) in Los Angeles, United States, for a meeting of leaders at the Summit of the Americas, which will have the theme: “Building a sustainable, resilient and equitable future”. Even today, the Brazilian president is due to meet, around 7 pm (Brasilia time), with the president of the United States, Joe Biden.
This is the first time that Bolsonaro will officially meet with Biden to discuss an agenda that involves climate issues and energy transition.
Bolsonaro told the CNN who expects a closer relationship with the US government after the meeting.
“I expect from the meeting a rapprochement between the United States and Brazil. That we can get closer. We never had a problem with the United States. Brazil is open to talk and have a relationship with any country,” she said.
President Jair Bolsonaro also said that, on the part of the Brazilian government, there are several topics to be addressed, such as transition energy (green hydrogen). But he also highlighted – without revealing the subject – that he will deal with confidential matters.
Bolsonaro’s Agenda in the US
Upon arrival in Los Angeles, Bolsonaro will participate in an Opening Plenary Session of the 9th Summit of the Americas, which will take place at 6 pm (Brasilia time).
Later, the Brazilian will meet with the President of the United States. The meeting should take place between 19:15 and 19:50.
