Sunlight Group plants trees in the areas where it operates

Sunlight Group Energy Storage Systems (Sunlight Group), in collaboration with the NGO We4all, implemented a series of tree planting, awareness and environmental education programs in schools of Xanthi, Rodopi and Attica – regional units where the company maintains facilities. These actions are part of the Green Mission initiative announced on World Environment Day 2021 and its commitment to provide two trees to be planted for every ton of batteries recycled under the Green Mission program.

The Sunlight Group emphasizes sustainability and environmental protection, supports relevant educational initiatives, and contributes to raising awareness among the younger generation. In this context, he participates as an Earth Protector in the We4all Environmental Alliance and donated more than 2,000 young trees for tree planting. These are endemic species (cypresses, acacias, locusts, logs, laurels, etc.) that are estimated to absorb approximately kilograms of carbon dioxide and will return to the environment 234,000 kilograms of oxygen. The 2,000 trees correspond to the 1,000 tons of lead-acid batteries that were processed at the Sunlight recycling plant in Komotini, through the Green Mission program.

More than 250 participants planted 400 saplings in Xanthi and Rodopi and 1,000 in Attica. The tree plantings were carried out by We4all volunteers and partners, and were combined with environmental education in schools, strengthening the Sunlight Group’s strong links with the local communities in the area where it operates. The school units that participated were the 10th Primary School of Xanthi, the 3rd, 5th, 6th and 10th of Komotini, and the 8th Primary School of Paleo Faliro. The remaining 600 Sunlight donation trees were planted in other We4all activities.
