THE “Super Wednesday” arrived, and with it market expectations about interest rate hikes in the US and Brazil.
Here, the Selic is expected to rise by 1 percentage point, reaching 12.75% per year, while in the United States, interest rates are expected to rise by 0.50 percentage point, something that has not happened since 2000.
These highs are already expected by the market, which will keep an eye out for signs from central banks about what is to come at the next meetings.
The consequence of the aggressive increase in interest rates by the Fed (US central bank) generates fears about a possible recession in the main economy of the world, which has alarmed the banks.
Another highlight is the sixth round of sanctions by the European Union on Russia, whose main factor is the implementation of a gradual embargo on Russian oil and refined products.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has proposed a complete ban on imports of Russian oil, which has sent prices soaring.
Presented by Thais Herédia and Priscila Yasbek, the CNN Money presents a balance of news issues that influence markets, finances and the direction of society and the dynamics of power in Brazil and in the world.
