Supportive economic policies should be maintained for as long as necessary

Paschal Donohoe, President of the Eurogroup, said Monday that supportive economic policies should remain in Europe for as long as necessary, as reported Reuters.

Additional statements

“National budgets must be addressed in the eurozone in a coordinated manner.”

“We want a common approach to the budget stance for the summer.”

“Some businesses will not be viable in the long term.”

“As the recovery phase begins, we will move to more business-specific support measures.”

“In April there will be more discussions about which companies are viable.”

Market reaction

These comments do not appear to be affecting the performance of the shared currency against its rivals. At time of writing, the EUR / USD pair was up 0.15% on the day at 1.2135.
