The US Federal Supreme Court issued a decision Monday allowing the Donald Trump government to abolish the temporary protection regime (TPS), which has so far been preventing the expulsion of about 350,000 Venezuelane citizens. The leading institution of US justice, in which the Conservatives have a clear majority, approved the request of Interior Security Minister Christie Noem, who wants to have the power to abolish the regime, in the midst of a lawsuit in progress. Ms Nooem essentially canceled the extension of TPS for 18 months for Venezuelan nationals, which was decided by the previous Joe Biden government and was due to enter into force in early April. But a federal judge in California (west) suspended the decision at the end of March, stressing that it raises the risk of causing “irreparable damage to hundreds of thousands of people” and denouncing the “racism” expressed by him by the equation of all the beneficiaries.
