The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the President of the “Greece 2021” Committee, Mrs. Gianna Angelopoulou-Daskalaki.
The purpose of the meeting was, with the completion of the actions and events coordinated by the Commission for the 200 years since the beginning of the Greek revolution for independence, to officially hand over to the Prime Minister the report of activities.
Along with the rich work that was developed, with multifaceted activities in Greece and abroad, the result of the financial audit carried out by the independent audit body, which had been appointed for this purpose, was delivered.
The audit certified a financial surplus of € 4,684,879, which allowed the Commission to be extended until the end of June, in order to launch additional actions financed by this surplus, actions of a purely developmental nature and reference to large social groups.
During the meeting, the report was handed over to the Prime Minister for these 16 additional actions, which were implemented from January 1, 2022 until the end of June 2022. Their subject is health, culture, education, science, civil protection.
Typical examples are the financing of the new telescope at the Skinakas Observatory, the supply of vehicles to the Fire Brigade and the Army, the financing of a large epidemiological program in North Kynouria on cardiovascular diseases and the creation of the jobs link platform for spectrum of autism in the labor market.
The Prime Minister congratulated and warmly thanked Ms. Angelopoulou-Daskalaki for the multifaceted work of the Commission.
