The two patients who were hospitalized at the Santo Amaro Hospital, in the central area of the capital of Pernambuco, underwent a new evaluation and had the need for surgical procedures ruled out; both were discharged on Tuesday (2).
The patients being treated at Getúlio Vargas Hospital, two women, aged 80 and 43, remain hospitalized in the unit in stable general health condition. The patient hospitalized at Memorial Jaboatão Hospital, a 49-year-old woman, underwent surgery and is in post-operative recovery.
Solidarity
The City of Recife delivered 100 basic food baskets to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Conception on Tuesday (3). The donation was made to supplement the church’s stock so that families affected by the tragedy last Friday (30) do not have even more problems in terms of food security.
The roof collapsed during the distribution of basic food baskets to residents around the sanctuary.
The baskets were donated by the Secretariat of Social Development, Human Rights, Youth and Drug Policies to the Sanctuary’s Social Pastoral, which was responsible for distributing them to families.
Remember
The church roof collapsed last Friday (30), leaving two people dead and 28 injured.
On Saturday (31), the removal of the debris from the collapse began. The city of Recife installed a temporary structure to hold masses while the reconstruction works last.
Less than a week before the accident, the installation of solar panels on the roof of the sanctuary was completed. However, it is not yet possible to determine whether there is a connection between these events.
The company Sun Brasil, which was responsible for installing the panels, issued a statement saying that the sanctuary had a report authorizing the work to install the equipment.
