Brazilian doctor Julie Shleifer lives in the Israeli city of Hod HaSharon and has worked serving the population that was displaced from the south of the country – the area that suffered most from Hamas attacks.
A CNN Radio she stated that the demand, at the moment, is for psychological care.
“In our area, we have 20 thousand inhabitants who we are providing medical, psychological and even legal support to,” he said.
According to her, psychological care “will not be a matter of days or weeks, it will be years and years for recovery.”
Julie reported that she often receives patients to prescribe medication for high blood pressure, for example, but, during the consultation, she ends up seeing people break down in tears and worry about kidnapped relatives.
“At this time, we mainly say that we are with him, whenever he needs, in the middle of the night, if necessary, to talk,” he said.
