SUS doctors are investigated for fraud in point registration in Porto Alegre

This Tuesday (28), the Federal Police launched Operation Hippocrates, which investigates crimes of embezzlement, misrepresentation or fraud against the Hospital Nossa Senhora da Conceição (HNSC), in Porto Alegre, which serves the Unified Health System ( SUS).

The suspicion is that ten doctors were defrauding the time record, to lie about their presence at the workplace. The professionals had salaries that varied between R$14 thousand and R$31 thousand.

The investigations began six months ago, after an anonymous complaint that said doctors registered the start of their work day and left the hospital for other activities, mainly to provide care in private clinics and other hospitals.

Then, they returned to register the closure of the point. 11 search and seizure warrants were executed in hospitals, clinics and offices in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul.

According to Federal Police Chief Eduardo Dalmolin Bollis, the doctors will be summoned and must give statements starting next week.
