Sushiswap founder resigns as project manager

The anonymous leader of the popular decentralized exchange SushiSwap has given up on managing the protocol. The reasons for this decision and the further plans of the developer under the pseudonym Maki are unknown.

According to a source familiar with the situation, the Maki Ethereum wallet address has been removed from the protocol’s multiple signature to confirm transactions. However, he remained in multisig to access the SushiSwap repository.

As a reminder, the SushiSwap decentralized exchange was launched last summer as a fork of the Uniswap protocol. The site quickly became popular and now occupies one of the leading positions in this area. The trading volume on the SushiSwap exchange in August amounted to $ 10.2 billion. At the moment, the value of the SUSHI token is $ 12.99 – over the past day, the rate has decreased by 7.5%.

A year ago, the founder of the site under the pseudonym Chef Nomi exchanged SUSHI for ETH and brought them to his own wallet. This angered the cryptocurrency community, and Chef Nomi was bombarded with allegations of fraud. After that, he returned $ 14 million in ETH and gave the administrator keys to the platform to FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried.
