The Civil Police of Bahia, through the 14th Territorial Police Station of Barra, is investigating a man suspected of committing crimes of robbery and rape by applying the scam known as “Good Night Cinderella” especially in victims of the LGBTQIA+ population.
The investigations, which lasted almost a year, resulted in a preventive arrest warrant against him, served last month on Ilha de Itaparica, in Baía de Todos os Santos. This Monday (25), the man was indicted by the police and must face criminal charges for the crimes committed.
According to the Civil Police, during the interrogation, the person being investigated confessed to having committed 11 crimes between 2022 and 2023, with gay men he knew through dating apps as victims. The suspect reported that he drugged the victims, made bank transfers and, on at least one of the occasions, committed sexual violence.
In conversation with the CNN delegate Mariana Ouais, responsible for the investigation and head of the 14th Territorial Police Station of Barra, explained that the indictment was based on material evidence, testimonies from victims and bank analyzes that confirmed the fraudulent transactions.
“It all started with a rape complaint from a tourist from Minas Gerais. He went to the police station to report that he had arranged a meeting with the suspect through a dating app. This man went to his inn and took him to the beach. There, he got a drink, became ‘groggy’ and blacked out. When he woke up, the tourist saw that he had been sexually assaulted and also saw the transfers made to the suspect’s account. From then on, we saw that he had a history and had other victims,” said the delegate.
The suspect remains in custody, pending judicial custody. The Civil Police of Bahia advises that any victim who recognizes the modus operandi or the suspect seeks specialized police stations in Salvador to report the cases.
