The Military Police of Minas Gerais arrested this Wednesday afternoon (14), in Uberlândia, Kaique Coutinho do Nascimento, aged 21, known as Chip, suspected of killing Rota soldier Samuel Wesley Cosmo, killed on the 2nd, during patrol in the Bom Retiro neighborhood, in Santos.
The information was released by the Secretary of Public Security of São Paulo, Guilherme Derrite, through social media.
“I received information that our brothers from the Military Police of Minas Gerais have just arrested the criminal Kaique Coutinho do Nascimento, aka Chip, identified as the killer of Soldier Cosmo. Thank you to the police officers for this important arrest”, said the leader of the department.
A body camera installed on Samuel's uniform captured the moment he was hit. The image shows the police officer on patrol in alleys, when he is surprised by a criminal, who comes out of a door and shoots him.
“Chip” had his identity revealed by the São Paulo Civil Police, during a press conference last Thursday (8) at the department’s office, set up in Santos, after the wave of violence against State agents.

The Public Security Secretariat offered a reward of R$50,000 to anyone who provided information that would help locate the fugitive.
According to Derrite last Thursday (8), the identity of the suspect was informed to the police by another young man, who has a similar nickname to “Chip”.
“An individual presented himself voluntarily, with the presence of a lawyer, as their nicknames were similar,” he explained.

Also according to Derrite, “Chip” has a criminal record for drug trafficking and as a “minor offender”.
