One of the suspects for the murder of a 52-year-old tourist last Friday (15), on the coast of São Paulo, was arrested today in Itanhaém. According to the Civil Police, the man was identified as the gunman who killed the victim.
Sérgio Martins, 30 years old, was under the benefit of 'sadinha' when he committed the crime. He is serving a sentence for trafficking and has charges for theft. The arrest was carried out at the CPP in Mongaguá, at the moment he returned from his trip.
He was identified this morning through photographic recognition. The witness who made the recognition also had access to an audio of the suspect. The association with the man's voice was decisive for confirmation, in addition to a tattoo on his right hand, visible in the images analyzed by experts.
With Sérgio, the knife used by the second robber, who remains at large and has not yet been identified, was found. At his home, agents found the cap and box of the white sneakers he used during the crime.
After the arrest, the judge of the 2nd Criminal Court of Itanhaém issued a temporary arrest warrant and search warrant. Sérgio is in the DIG of Itanhaém and will be taken to the public prison in Peruíbe. Tomorrow he will have a custody hearing.
Remember the case
Two men broke into a house and killed a tourist in the city of Itanhaém, on the coast of São Paulo, on Friday night (15). The Emergency Medical Care Service (SAMU) was called, but the victim did not resist and died at the scene.
According to the Civil Police, the case took place on Rua Antônio Procópio, in the Jardim Regina neighborhood. The victim, a 52-year-old man who lived in the capital of São Paulo, was outside the house, which was rented for the season, with a friend.
Security circuit images show the moment when two men, wearing black clothes and caps, pass along the sidewalk. After seeing movement in the house, the duo stops and decides to jump over the wall. It is possible to see that the first robber to jump enters the house and pulls a gun from his waist, while the other suspect wields a knife.
Another camera angle shows the duo's approach to the people inside the house. The suspects enter the residence, and the victim, in the backyard, hears screaming and realizes that one of them had surrendered his wife and his friend's wife. The victim goes towards the door, at the same time that the suspect armed with a knife comes out and appears to threaten him.
In the images it is possible to see that the victim takes a few steps back and grabs a knife, trying to defend himself. At the same moment, the suspect calls the accomplice who was arresting the women in the room and, upon leaving, he shoots the victim in the chest, who falls without reacting. Afterwards, the duo jumps over the wall and escapes with a cell phone.
According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the case was registered at the Itanhaém Sectional Police Station as a robbery, robbery followed by death.
