Gabriel Pinho Moraes, 21, was temporarily arrested in Holambra, in the interior of São Paulo, suspected of storing intimate and pornographic images of children and adolescents. The arrest was authorized by the court after the further investigations of the Santos Civil Police, coast of São Paulo, which began in April this year.
The case began when the grandmother of an 11 -year -old boy sought the 5th Police District of Santos in Baixada Santista after finding suspicious conversations at Neto’s WhatsApp. According to her reported to the police, the content involved exchange of messages with an adult, later identified as Gabriel.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had been working for at least four years entrusting children over the internet.
How did the crime work?
According to police, he used popular online games, such as Free Fire, to approach the victims. Even aware that they were minors, it started conversations, and if there was an interaction considered “positive”, it offered benefits within the game in exchange for intimate photos and videos.
Prison in the interior of the state
During compliance with the search and seizure warrant, civil police officers met Gabriel, cell phones, USB sticks and computers with vast pornographic material involving children and adolescents.
The suspect confessed to the crimes and was taken to Santos, where he remains temporarily arrested for 30 days.
Threatened the victims
According to delegate Wagner Camargo Gouveia, from the fifth police district of Santos, responsible for the investigation, the suspect also guided the victims to delete the conversations to make any complaint difficult.
“Photos and videos storage is a heinous crime, in addition to the crime of enticing children. We have identified other victims on his cell phone and now we will look for parents to be informed,” the delegate told the delegate CNN .
Police believe Gabriel acted alone, but does not rule out the possibility of involvement in a larger network.
“At first, we do not have elements that indicate the sale or sharing of the content. It was apparently to our own satisfaction. But we will continue to be sure that he does not integrate a larger pedophilia group,” added Gouveia.
Also according to the police report, the suspect constantly changed the number of telephone in an attempt to make it difficult to track his actions. The reiteration of the crimes and the vulnerability of the victims were decisive for the issuance of the arrest warrant and search.
The investigations continue, and the Civil Police are now working to identify and locate other victims in Brazil. The guidance of the authorities is for parents and guardians to redouble their attention with the content accessed by children, especially in games and social networks.
