Suspect of planning the death of a Dominican writer in 2021 is arrested in Pernambuco

The Civil Police arrested, this Tuesday (24), a man suspected of order the assassination of Dominican writer Leuvis Manuel Olivero which took place in 2021, in Vila Isabel, in the north of Rio de Janeiro.

The arrest took place in the municipality of Jaboatão dos Guararapes, in the metropolitan region of Recife, after a joint intelligence action between the police forces of Rio de Janeiro and Pernambuco.

According to the investigation, the suspect, Ricardo Vicente do Nascimento, planned the crime with his ex-partner Márcia Cristina Neves Ferreira, the victim’s ex-mother-in-law and grandmother of the writer’s daughter. The murder took place shortly after Leuvis had left his daughter in the care of Márcia, who frequently picked the child up from school.

The crime was committed shortly after the victim met with his ex-mother-in-law, who was the one who picked up the child from school. Security camera footage revealed that Ricardo and Márcia were at the crime scene coordinating the final details of the murder with the perpetrator, who has not yet been identified.

Leuvis Manuel Olivero, 38, was an American national of Dominican descent. He was murdered on October 10, 2021, on Gonzaga Bastos Street. Leuvis was shot several times by a man who got out of a black HB20.

Investigations revealed that the relationship between Leuvis and his ex-partner, Márcia’s daughter, was marked by constant conflicts.

According to the police, she also gave the go-ahead for the plan devised by her mother and Ricardo. Márcia has already been arrested for her participation in the crime, while the authorities continue to search for the perpetrator.

Ricardo Vicente do Nascimento was captured in Pernambuco and must remain at the disposal of the Justice system while the investigations continue.
