A young man, identified as Victor Hugo Braz Santos, 22 years old, was arrested while preparing to broadcast live on social media, this Wednesday (11). Victor will answer for an attempted robbery that happened in January of this year.
According to the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police, at the time of the approach, the suspect was preparing to hold a ‘live’ session on investments, an area in which he worked regularly, even with an outstanding arrest warrant in his name.
On social media, Victor offered tips about the financial market, in addition to posting about his daily life.
The suspect was placed in preventive detention by the 26th Criminal Court of Rio and will be sent to the penitentiary system, where he will be at the disposal of the Justice Department.
Attempted robbery
On January 12th of this year, Victor Hugo met a 26-year-old man in the parking lot of a bar in Gávea, a neighborhood in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro. Investigations indicate that, after a conversation between them, they both decided to go together to a nightclub in Barra da Tijuca, in the west zone of the city.
Police say that, near the scene, the two had consensual sexual relations inside the victim’s car, however, shortly after, Victor lost control and attacked the man, fearing that he would publicize the encounter.
According to the police, Victor tried to suffocate the victim – who was unconscious – with his hands and with the seatbelt. Witnesses who were passing by the scene helped the man who, upon waking, noticed that his cell phone, wallet and watch had been stolen.
To the police, Victor confessed to the meeting, the assaults, the robbery and the escape, in addition to confirming that he acted after the man insisted on having another sexual relationship with him.
