Suspected drug trafficker is arrested with R$58,000 during police operation in Baixada Santista

A man suspected of drug trafficking was arrested with R$58,000 by military police officers from the Special Actions Battalion (Baep) during an operation in Morro do São Bento, in Santos, on Saturday (17).

The agents, who were carrying out reinforcements in the third phase of Operation Verão, received information that individuals were carrying out drug trafficking in the region.

According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), upon being notified, the police entered the scene and located one of the suspected drug traffickers in the act of the crime. The criminal tried to escape, but was unable to do so.

The suspect was arrested for drug trafficking and taken to the 7th Police District of Santos.

Among the items seized, the police collected 14 cell phones, used by criminals to monitor police action, drugs, such as cocaine and hashish, in addition to money.

Operation Summer

Also on Saturday (17), the number of people killed in Operation Summer, carried out by the São Paulo Military Police in Baixada Santista, rose to 27. The suspect died after shooting at police officers in Beco das Almas, in Guarujá. Since the beginning of the police action on the south coast, 645 criminals have been arrested, including 242 wanted by the courts, according to the SSP.
