After the ITA airline announced the temporary suspension of its operations, a riot broke out at Guarulhos airport in São Paulo as passengers protest the canceled flights.
On Thursday night (17), a group of people with tickets purchased on flights from the Itapemirim Group began blocking passengers’ access to the airport’s departure area.
“At the Itapemirim window there were no employees. Chaos broke out, everyone clapping, screaming, asking for direction from the company,” he told CNN the passenger Lidiane Santos.
She informed that the confusion remained throughout the night in the place. “There was no direction. I managed to board this morning on another airline, buying another ticket. At Itapemirim, there is still no one and passengers continue to block the passage of other companies”, he said.
Wanted by CNN, the airport’s advisors instructed passengers with scheduled flights to consult the airline before proceeding to the airport.
