Susy Laude: “It’s always a good time to be a woman”

“A suspended fable, without place or time”. With a “feminist” princess, for friends Uma, catapulted into a family of only men: in Ferliga. Grandfather Attila (Antonio Catania), old-fashioned father, younger brother Dante (Lillo Petrolo), never grown up, his son Ezio (Pietro Sermonti), widower dedicated to beekeeping, and the grandchildren Francesco, passionate about dance, and Emanuele, the youngest. Finally, there is the bad uncle Dino Abbrescia. The dog is also male, Mimmo.

All for Uma, in cinemas from 2 June, is the directorial debut of Susy Laude, after years of apprenticeship with direction for the theater, the shorts, and the many rehearsals as an actress (The most beautiful day, Blessed ignorance and If you love me).

Shot in full lockdown, it marks the return to family-size cinema. «I’m from Brescia, we also went through a terrible time. During the shooting I always thought about the after, the desire to wanting to give some hope“. On the set, Susy, she also found again husband Dino, son Nico and the dog. Dirigerli? “It wasn’t a big deal, I already run them every day”, he jokes (but not too much). And again: «We have decided that we really want to be a family. We tell the story of a family and we are ».
