The effects of large increases in energy prices for industries will be very serious and covering them with 250 euros per MWh and with 30 euros for natural gas per thermal MWh rather causes concern and anxiety in industrial production, emphasizes the president of SVAP, Mr. Dimitris Mathios in a memorandum to the Minister of Energy and Environment Mr. K. Skrekas as a reaction to the interventions by offering the solutions of subsidies to the whole problem.
Mr. Mathios reminds, in the specific intervention of SVAAP, that the support to the industry actually started at the beginning of the year but the problem and the effects of the energy crisis date back to the last 4 months (September – December) of 2021 where almost 90% of industry faced increases of over 40% in electricity tariffs resulting in a 20% to 40% increase in production costs for more than 1 in 5 businesses.
This situation, adds Mr. Mathios, makes it difficult even for the decisions of the industry, those productively linked to natural gas, to plan new actions or exports, which will have chain effects, culminating in the shrinking of their current capacity.
