Swatch, it's time for the Biennale

Swatch arrives once again at Venice Biennale – edition scheduled from April 20th to November 24th -, as main sponsor. A historic and solid bond between the brand and the prestigious art exhibition which, this year, has resulted in a special project (indeed, more than one).

Under the spotlight of the Lagoon, the artwork of the Japanese graphic artist Verdycalled upon by Swatch to create a 4 meter high work of art and a collector's watch that celebrates Vick, the artist's most recognizable and iconic character. Born from the combination of a panda and a rabbit, Vick is a symbol of positivity and peace, longevity and abundance, but notoriously known for only being available in black and white. For his debut at the Biennale Gardens, heart of the exhibition, the imaginative character appears in a new nuance, an iridescent bronze effect, the same that appears on the dial and strap of the watch which reflects the image of the installation.

The timepiece, model GENTat 34 mm, is presented in an opulent black package with gold-colored details and features a “secret” detail, namely Vick's tongue changing color every day, cycling from orange to red, pink and yellow.

Swatch is Biennale time

A playful element, just like the spirit of the watch and the entire project. Vick Bronze by Verdy in fact it invites the public to take the time to get in touch with your rebellious side, reflecting both the lighthearted and fun approach that Swatch is known for, and the positive energy that the artist instills with his art.

But that's not all, because in addition to the Gardens, Swatch will also be present atArsenal, with the exhibition Swatch Faces 2024. For this 60th edition of the Biennale, entitled Foreigners Everywhere – Foreigners Everywherethe brand has indeed rallied the works of some of its artists who have resided at Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai, China, a residency open to all creative minds, a place where artists from all over the world can enjoy the space and time to work freely and perfect themselves within a dynamic community. The contemporary works of art selected and visible at the Arsenale encourage the exploration of new territories and new languages, creating a bridge between Shanghai and Venice.

Final chapter, the watch created by Swatch for this edition of the Biennale. A model with an essential design that embodies the theme of this biennial, Foreigners Everywherereplicating the work of the same name by Claire Fontaine: in black biosourced material, accentuated by phosphorescent white details for an unexpected effect, it is sold in the Biennale shops and in selected Swatch stores in Venice.
