An 18-year-old high school student was charged today in the March murders of two female teachers at his school in Malmo, Sweden, prosecutors said.
The young man will stand trial for the murder of two female teachers during an attack he launched “with a knife and an axe”, the Swedish prosecutor’s office announced.
The defendant’s lawyer, Anders Ellison, said that the client confessed to the murders immediately after his arrest and still admits to their actions.
The two women, aged around 50, succumbed to their injuries. About 50 people were at Malmö Latin High School at the time of the attack.
The teenager was arrested a short time later.
According to his lawyer, the young man suffers from psychological problems and on the day of the attack he believed that he would not leave the school alive.
His trial begins on July 20 in Malmö and he risks a life sentence.
