Sweden has delivered a new defense aid package to Ukraine, including artillery shells, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said today.
“Great news from Sweden: the 7th military aid package, with artillery ammunition, will strengthen the Ukrainian army,” the minister tweeted, thanking Sweden’s foreign and defense ministers. “Together we will restore peace and security in Europe,” he added.
The White House also announced today that “within the next few days” the US will announce a new military aid package for Kyiv. “What we care about is making sure (the Ukrainians) have the means to win the battle on the ground and for that (…) we have already pledged more than $13 billion in military aid to the Ukrainian forces. We will continue and in the coming days there will be announcements,” said John Kirby, the spokesman for the National Security Council, the body that manages defense and diplomatic affairs at the White House.
Kirby did not comment on the Ukrainian counterattack in the Kherson region, one of the few major cities the Russians have captured. “We let the Ukrainians talk about their military operations and the success of those operations, whether they are offensive or defensive,” he explained.
